RIZNICA is very excited to perform Rachmaninoff's incredible, very inspiring choral masterpiece: ALL NIGHT VIGIL. Often mistakenly referred to as VESPERS, the piece includes not only choral movements from the Orthodox Vesper service, but also those from the Orthodox Matins service.
While Rachmaninoff is most widely known for his piano concertos, many experts have hailed All Night Vigil as his greatest masterpiece. Many know the 6th movement: Bogorodice djevo (Rejoice, O Virgin) as one of the most frequently performed spiritual piece. Fewer know that the composer requested movement No5 Ninye otpuscaesi (Lord, Now Lettest Thou Depart in Peace) to be sung at his funeral.
Riznica creative director Jana Minov's Orthodox back ground provides unique insight and interpretation of this work. Riznica enjoyed performing it for the first time.
