Dr. Jana Minov, artistic director of Riznica, was born into a family of professional musicians. She graduated with a degree in conducting from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade-Serbia where she studied with Jovan Šajnović. During her studies, Ms. Minov attended master classes and seminars with prominent conductors such as Emil Tabakov, Uroš Lajović, and Mladen Jagušt. In addition to conducting, Ms. Minov is also an accomplished pianist and vocalist.
 
    Dr. Minov’s academic honors and work experience include the first prize and a special award at the International Choir Competition in Shanghai, China in July 2004. She led a series of concerts with the Niš Symphonic Orchestra as a guest conductor and she was the youngest conductor to conduct an opera (Mozart’s Magic Flute) in the National Opera Theater in Belgrade. Dr. Minov conducted a series of performances with the Faculty of Music in Belgrade String Chamber Orchestra, the amateur choir Belgrade Madrigalists, a church choir, and the Army Symphonic Orchestra and Choir in Belgrade where she worked as a conducting assistant. Before coming to Arizona, Jana worked as a music professor at the Mokranjac music high-school. She studied orchestral conducting with Dr. Timothy Russell and opera conducting with Dr. William Reber and graduated with a Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting at Arizona State University in 2011. She was also a conductor of the ASU Sinfonietta, and an assistant conductor for the ASU Orchestra Program. With the ASU Chamber Orchestra she conducted two world premiers and she led the opera Julius Caesar in 2008, and Suor Angelica, by Puccini in 2009. She was also appointed to an assistant director of The Phoenix Symphony Chorus for the season 2010/11.

    Dr. Minov has been working with Riznica Chamber Choir from the very beginning, since March 15th 2008, as one of the co-founders and artistic director. Her loving way of work with the choir, unbearable enthusiasm for music and high professionalism in directing contribute to the group happy atmosphere and very successful concerts.
